Make a Difference in a Grieving Heart

From comfortable floor cushions and craft supplies, to supplying meals for families during program nights, The Nightingale Centre has many opportunities for you to support The Centre in your own special way.

Children's Floor Cushions

Children who attend our bereavement programs gather together to share their grief journey and support each other as a small community. Having a comfortable, relaxed environment allows them to be themselves and open up to those who might be having similar experiences.

We sit on floor cushions to maximize space, encourage flexible seating arrangements, and to keep the children feeling like children.

The gift of floor cushions for the children who visit The Centre is $40.00 / cushion.

Please put “Cushion” in the optional donation form field. Thank you for your support.

Children's Weighted Blankets

Our goal is to create a supportive and safe environment where grieving children have the opportunity to connect with other youth who are also grieving the death of a parent or sibling. Providing a sense of community and safety for those who want to share their feelings is crucial to children opening up.

Weighted Blankets have a calming effect on those who use them and can reduce anxiety.

The gift of a weighted blanket for the children who visit The Centre is $100.00 / blanket.

Please put “Blanket” in the optional donation form field. Thank you for your support.

Arts & Craft Supplies

The Nightingale Centre is as a support system and physical location where children can have an outlet who are grieving the death of a family member.

One of the ways we help children express their emotions and put their thoughts on paper is by doing arts and crafts.

The Nightingale Centre is decorated with lovely pieces of art that the children in our community have been able to put together to express their emotions, remember those who have died, and aid in their grieving journey.

The gift of arts and craft supplies to supply a session is $25.00.

Please put “Crafts” in the optional donation form field. Thank you for your support.

Sponsor a Program Meal

The Nightingale Centre hosts families that are a part of the Suicide Bereavement and Continuing Bonds Programs for dinner one evening a month.

Families meet one evening per month to share a meal and companionship as a way to bring the community closer together.

A shared meal can help breakdown barriers and walls that people naturally put up in a time of need or sadness. The meal also allows the families to have a night off of cooking to focus on their mental well-being.

The gift of sponsoring a Nightingale program meal is $100.00 / meal.

Please put “Meal” in the optional donation form field. Thank you for your support.

Children's Grief Books

The importance of children learning through reading cannot be understated. Our children are encouraged in all aspects of their lives to learn through books and literature – grief included.

Through our team’s years of experience working with grieving children, a few excellent books have risen to the top of the pile of ones that children connect extremely well with.

The Nightingale Centre is looking to have a library collection of books that the children can read together and learn healthy ways to share and experience their grief.

The gift of a set of 8 children’s grief books is $100.00.

Please put “Books” in the optional donation form field. Thank you for your support.
